Eco-Friendly Garden Wedding Menus & Programs

Last week I wrote about the invitations used for a lovely eco-friendly wedding in Chicago. Fortunately, the story doesn’t stop there! I was so lucky to get to work with the amazing couple on several other projects, including their ceremony programs and dinner menus. They made a slight shift in design from their save the dates and invitations, which featured ecru paper, mocha writing, and a green flowered vine, to white paper, mocha writing, and a tree design. While it makes sense to have your invitations tie in to your event and set the scene, it is definitely not necessary to have your invitations match everything else you do. By not feeling as though you must have every single thing match from start to finish, you can have a bit more fun and feel more open to adjusting your theme, style, colors, and tiny details to better fit you and the event as time goes on. If something isn’t working, if you don’t love something as much as you thought you would, or if you just feel like changing it up a bit, change it! That is what happened with this bride – she found escort cards she loved and they were made of white paper. So, we switched from ecru colored paper to white colored paper for the event itself.

Based upon a preliminary idea from the bride, I designed the programs around her theme, colors, and style in a flip-book fashion. To make them, first everything was printed, then each page was cut to the right size. Lastly, eyelets were hand-pounded to hold everything in place. Before I knew it, 175 flip-book programs were made!

I also designed and made matching menus to be put at each place setting.

Talk about one-of-a-kind details for a wedding! That is the benefit of working with a stationer/planner for all of your wedding stationery and accessory needs – you get to work through your ideas and vision, and end up with products that are completely unique and made with the kind of love your wedding deserves.
